I have created this site to share some of my collection of Roman coins.

This site is under construction and will hopefully expand to cover more of my collection as time goes by. My collection has a couple of major, disparate, focal points. The first focus being the mint of Lugdunum with prime emphasis being placed on the operation of the mint from the re-opening of the mint in A.D. 274 by Aurelian through to the reformation of the coinage by Diocletian, though my interest in the mint does spread itself out beyond this period. The second focus is the eastern coinage of Septimius Severus. These two topics meet one another at the Battle of Lugdunum between Septimius Severus and Clodius Albinus.

This site is created around my own collection and will never be a complete reference but I hope to make it more than a mere gallery of the coins in my collection.

For the coinage of Probus from Lugdunum I have made an attempt to cover the coinage chronologically, covering the emissions in turn and providing some details of how to attribute the coinage to the appropriate emission and officina. I hope to expand this to cover the other mints. I will attempt to illustrate as many examples as I can from my own collection. This follows strongly on the works of Bastien and in this case follows Volume IX, “Le monnayage de l'atelier de Lyon : de la reóuverture de l'atelier par Aurélien à la mort de Carin (fin 274-mi-285)”.

As I have mentioned, this site is based upon my own collection and it will never be complete and there will be several bust types / legends / emissions / officina that I do not have but I will attempt to provide as much information as I can and hopefully point you in the right direction for finding the information you require

The site is continually evolving as my collection grows and evolves.
